What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of more than one hundred cannabinoids found within the hemp plant.

This plant belongs to the Cannabaceae family. You should know that CBD was used in ancient medicine thousands of years ago. But what made this chemical compound so famous, not only in Italy, but all over the world?
Cannabidiol is widely known for its beneficial properties that can help treat pain, reduce inflammation, and relieve stress, anxiety, and depression.
It is often used medically to manage neurodegenerative diseases such as epilepsy, combat nausea, stimulate appetite, and even slow the progression of cancer.

Its therapeutic value is closely related to the way our brain works. The body already includes an endocannabinoid system, which is composed of receptors that regulate various functions, such as psychological or immune functions. When receptors are malfunctioning, using hemp helps regulate nerve signals and rebalance the body

Il Sistema Endocannabinoide

Endocannabinoids are molecules that are produced and released by our body “on demand,” that is, in response to stimuli (e.g., painful, emotional, inflammatory) that come from the external environment. Once produced and released, endocannabinoids activate CB(CB1 and CB2) receptors to transmit signals to cells, coordinate an appropriate response and return the body to its “dynamic balance.” Then, once they have performed their function, the endocannabinoids are destroyed. In addition, the Endocannabinoid System regulates neurodevelopment, our ability to learn and remember through its ability to modify or create new connections between nerve cells.

In addition to this, there is the ability to modulate immune system activity, anti-inflammatory action, regulation of mood, sleep, hunger stimulus, as well as pain perception. CBD has the ability to interact positively with our Endocannabinoid System. How? With a “regulating” or “moderating” function. In practice, CBD is able to regulate, by refining them, the processes already in place in the body. The moment “imbalances,” dysfunctions or imbalances occur, CBD could intervene promptly and help restore the lost balance by supporting and strengthening the main actor in restoring this balance, namely the Endocannabinoid System. All in a natural way and without the risk of incurring side effects! In fact, unlike THC, CBD has no psychotropic effects on the brain.
